My Story

I'm Meryl and I’m happy you landed on my page.

Let me tell you a little bit about myself and how I got into the floral world.

In May, 2024 - my 8 year old daughter Adelia passed away from an aggressive, incurable brain tumor called Diffuse Midline Glioma - losing her 15-month battle with this devastating disease.

The Origins of Deedle Bug

Adelia, otherwise known as Deedle Bug to our family, underwent 63 rounds of radiation, 5 brain surgeries, countless procedures, and living in Seattle for a clinical trial.

She was a beautiful soul that left this world too soon, but her legacy will continue to live on in me, and within all of you. While grappling with the pain, learning to live with the grief, and trying to forge a path forward, I took a trip to see my best friend in London. It was on this trip that I discovered my love for floral arranging.

After creating a spontaneous wedding bouquet for her sister-in law, she quickly asked me to be her florist for her wedding celebration stateside. I was thrilled with this opportunity, and knew I was up for the job. I soon became addicted to flowers, smelling them, feeling them in my hands, creating with them, and the meditative peace that working them provided for my body and soul.

Creating beautiful arrangements has not only been extremely therapeutic and healing for me, it has also been a way to connect with Adelia’s soul and share her kindness and beauty with the world. Deedle Bug would often leave thoughtful, spontaneous gifts for friends and family, notes that would brighten your day, and encourage people to be the best versions of themselves.

I hope that every Deedlebug Bouquet can bring light and love into your home.

The fight isn't over

When Adelia was diagnosed in 2023, we begin raising awareness and funds for rare pediatric brain cancers like DMG.

To date, our community has raised over $450,000 to go to the teams elevating the level of cancer care - directly impacting patients and their families.

We believe in a future with better care, and a cure, and we’re going to fight for it. Join us.
